Summary
-a survey shows that 6 in 10 of them actually speak non-standard English in their daily lives.
-this year's Speak Good English Movement hopes more Singaporeans make it a habit to speak standard English.

-The straw poll of students also showed that more students speak better English only in formal settings like a class presentation.

Singlish has already become a trademark in Singapore and there is less emphasis on the importance of speaking good english. I believe that the Speak Good English Movement will be a successful step to encourage Singaporeans to speak standard english.
Speaking good english should be practiced from young. We need workers who can communicate with not only the non-Singaporeans among us but also the tourists, those who come for conventions, meetings and so on.
We should speak standard english in everyday conversations and not only in formal settings. Each individual must put in effort into this or the Speak Good English Movement will not be successful.
Speaking standard english not only is a self-improvement, but also give Singapore a more competitive edge among all nations.
